Write for us
Rising Showbiz Review welcomes considered pitches and contributions about comedy writing, performance, formats, history and audiences. We look for a clear idea that helps a general reader notice something specific about how comedy is made or received.
What makes a strong pitch
Propose one focused subject and explain the central question or observation in a few sentences. Say what the piece would help a reader understand, which form of comedy it concerns and what examples you would use. A useful pitch has a point beyond retelling a plot, listing favourites or declaring something funny or unfunny.
The voice we seek
Write with curiosity, precision and a light touch. Explain specialist terms, distinguish evidence from opinion and treat performers, audiences and traditions with care. We welcome fresh angles, comparisons and historical context, provided the scope is realistic and the proposal does not depend on unsupported claims.
Send a proposal
Proposals are sent through the Contact page. Include a working title, a short outline and a brief description of your relevant experience or approach. Do not send confidential material or assume a proposal has been accepted before an editorial reply.
A laugh is a moment of recognition.
Comedy can surprise, unsettle or bring a room together. We look at the choices behind that moment without reducing a joke to a formula.
