Editorial policy
Rising Showbiz Review aims to make informed, fair-minded writing about comedy. We distinguish explanation from opinion, avoid presenting interpretation as fact and correct errors when they are brought to our attention.
Accuracy and context
We check names, titles, dates and other factual details against available reliable material before publication. When an article discusses a performance or comic device, we try to describe the example clearly and give it enough context to be understood. We do not invent quotations, events or access. Where a point is uncertain or interpretive, we say so rather than making it sound settled.
Independence and interests
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not as a promise of favourable coverage. If a contributor or publication has a relevant interest in a subject, that connection should be disclosed and considered when deciding how to proceed. Payment or a partnership does not buy an editorial conclusion.
Corrections
Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. Please identify the article and passage, explain the concern and share supporting context if available. We review correction requests, amend confirmed factual errors and make the nature of a significant correction clear to readers. A disagreement about interpretation is not automatically a factual error.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, sponsored or otherwise partner-supported material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Partners do not approve editorial conclusions. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that is the case, the illustration is identified accordingly. Illustrations are not presented as documentary evidence.
A laugh is a moment of recognition.
Comedy can surprise, unsettle or bring a room together. We look at the choices behind that moment without reducing a joke to a formula.
